Good morning everyone! I’ve had quite the night! The CEL turned off on the drive home from work last night. Aside from some sketchy performance (I had to be pedal to the floor just to maintain 60 mph), everything was almost normal. Even the engine itself purred like a kitten. I was about to call victory had the trip this morning gone well. Heck, the coolant level didn’t even change!

And well, my engine, not to be outdone by my optimism, decided to not only lose a cylinder, but lose it so hard that the engine stalled out twice this morning. On top of that, running performance was even worse than the first day the engine started doing all this. Of course, me driving on it is not making manners better. Like, literally to get any forward momentum, I have to floor it. And restarting the engine is a no go either, the shakes and misfires are now coming back only a couple minutes after restart. Oh, there’s a new code too, P0300...which well, Google reveals to be even more useless than P0303 with the definition of “misfires on random cylinder”.

I have a lot of work to do this weekend, and I’m not entirely confident about it.

There’s no way for me to get to work without it. No public transport, all but one of my parents’ cars are worse off than mine (dad’s PT has a seized engine, mum’s Envoy is incredibly not road worthy) and all my friends either don’t have cars or have wrecked them....and on top of that, I don’t have paid leave...so I can’t afford not to go to work...then again, I can’t afford to go to work, it’s literally a lose/lose.

Sounds like what happend when I blew the rings out of one of my motors, Granted I knew it was happening so I literally drove it till it wouldn’t go forward anymore. Multiple misfire codes, horrible noises, blue smoke emanating from everywhere. I wish you luck.

Cabs out here are hilariously expensive. Like, it’s $40 just to travel 10 miles. It would cost me $160 for a round trip for 1 day.

That’s how taxi services survive out in these suburbs. They make up for lower amounts of fares by charging more!

I mean, I guess I could also Uber...but I don’t expect that to be cheap either. I would be better off trading in the smart ASAP while the engine still runs.

oil filter falling off probably is what killed it. Bet it was leaking for a while causing less than adequate lubrication.

It gets really good highway mileage. Although hammering i around town (which is mostly what I do), it’s more like 14 mpg.

That’s impressive. My V50 gets 16 with me matting the throttle pretty much 100% of the time, mainly because I enjoy the sound that it makes ;)

I love my vans don’t get me wrong. Just always fond of those wagons!

Kinda funny actually, my parents always had “cool” vehicles when I was growing up. Dad had a built 70 Nova, Mom had various Mustangs, Camaros, and random foreign performance cars, no minivans in my past.

Now we have kids, I get one on a steal, and I started an addiction. I love them. Haul like a truck, comfortable for the family, look bad ass with some mods, perform quite well, decent on mileage, reliable, they really are the best of everything.

Now if I could just get my hands on a Turbo 5-speed and an AWD to finish the collection.
